Detailed Synopsis:
In the documentary "Sleep Paralysis", affected people of different nationalities tell of their frightening and sometimes surprisingly similar experiences with the little-known phenomenon of sleep paralysis. In this state, consciousness is active while the body remains paralysed in sleep. Those affected see figures, perceive sounds and voices and experience the feeling of being touched. The protagonists also tell of frightening encounters with beings, as a result of which they had to question their own perception. Scientists classify the phenomenon, give insights into our sleep, our psyche, various myths and beliefs of different epochs and cultures and thus try to find explanations. The film combines the chorus of voices of 11 protagonists with a visual and auditory level that tries to approach the experience of sleep paralysis.

„The selection of protagonists is exciting: both scientists and people from the most diverse cultural backgrounds come together. It is precisely the perspective of the different cultures that always puts sleep paralysis in a different light, the scientific view appropriately supporting the emotional." (Translated)
